Transitioning neurology care from pediatric to adult providers is always difficult, but it is especially challenging for young people with IDD. This 1-hour webinar will help health care providers improve their patients’ transition by learning the differences between pediatric and adult care to address and communicate those changes. Experts will share what pediatric specialists need to provide adult providers and how to help set expectations for the transition. Participants will also learn what adult physicians need to know about the pediatric care team, how to help patients build an adult care team, and how to support their patients in navigating the new adult system.

This is a one-hour course focused on educating providers on how to navigate the complex world of clinical trials with their patients. In this course, providers will learn when and how to discuss clinical trials with their patients. CME credit is available. Learning Objectives: Providers will be able to identify appropriate situations for discussing clinical trials with patients. Providers will use recommendations provided on how to give families information about clinical trials. Providers will utilize the resources provided to help families have the best experience possible with a clinical trial.

This is a one-hour course focused on educating providers about the impact of genetic testing for improving the management of pediatric neurology conditions. You will learn how to identify and overcome barriers to getting testing and how to talk with families about test results. Learning Objectives: Better understand the benefits of genetic testing, specifically whole exome sequencing, in the prognosis and medical management of pediatric neurologic conditions. Identify barriers and overcome obstacles that delay or prevent access to genetic testing. Apply genetic counseling approached to test result disclosure.
